Bethany Joy Lenz shares why she took on 'One Tree Hill' despite warnings
Bethany Joy Lenz has mentioned a number of topics relating to the show “One Tree Hill” as well as the apparent cult that she was involved in.
Bethany Joy Lenz has said that she was advised against going to the casting of the popular television show One Tree Hill, which aired in the early 2000s.
The night of the shooting, Bethany got a phone call from her manager. He told her that it would be a matter of being intimate on the show. Since the actress belonged to the evangelical Christian faith, she had opted out of performing in What I Like About You with Amanda Bynes previously as she would be required to play a role of a girlfriend who shares an apartment with her partner.
Many years later, when she reprised the memories for the book Dinner for Vampires she very vividly recalls her manager stating: ‘I have a direct quote and I have been sent to relay this quote. Please ensure that you know exactly what you are getting yourself into when you sign this contract’ which the manager refers to Katie.
After that, Lenz’s own manager quoted that television manager saying “the focus on the show will be on the teenagers’ intimacy, and if she’s goanna have a problem with that, she shouldn’t come in tomorrow.”
But for her, it was an obstacle wanting to act in the show and so she said: “Just tell him what he is trying to say. I am not goanna try to block their perspectives of a teenage life. I trust the show, and I wish to be part of it.”
“She has an importance of instinct as Mere doesn’t intimidate her because the One Tree Hill pilot was all about the grit”, with the show ‘I hope that it was completely different from most subtle, valueless bubble gum television.’
She continued henceforth that, “I did not feel that I was at much danger of being sexualized especially by American culture. I thought there was a chance that this was about a show that would be able to transmit positive and good messages to the viewers.”
The Roswell series started on the small screens in 2003 where it aired for 9 seasons. It also featured Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty, Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton whereas the lead was taken over by Bethany Joy Lenz.
